One of the most beautiful places in Trentino Alto Adige is undoubtedly the Alpe di Siusi.
Read about the nicest hiking trails to do, look the amazing photos and follow my trip on the largest plateau in Europe.
The Alpe di Siusi plateau consists of 56 square kilometers of meadows, hills, shelters, lakes and trails where you can do by walk, bike or like us with Giorgino our cool cool dog!

I TREKKING MIGLIORI SULL’ALPE DI SIUSI
LOCATION:
Alpe di Siusi • Trentino Alto Adige, Italia
WHEN:
August, 2017
WHAT:
Are you looking for “what to visit in Trentino?” The Alpe di Siusi is absolutely not to be missed!
Imagine endless meadows and rocky highlands that stand in the distance.
Imagine small huts all scattered around, fairy-tale rivers and a green grass I had never seen before.
And now imagine wooden walkways to walk, biking trails, and many huts and guesthouses where to get food. Because you know. The mountain makes everybody hungry.
So, this is the Alpe di Siusi. Literally a wonder of nature.
We did a very simple walk that went up and down for 3 hours without much effort. We made friends with pony and cows, drunk from various fountains, made dozens of photos and finally exhausted (I’m obvious sarcastic) we ate a mega plate of polenta and finferli (me) and gulasch (Simo).
5 IMPORTANT INFO ABOUT THE ALPE DI SIUSI:
- It is the largest plateau in Europe. Do not you want to see it?
- You can choose between 27 huts, guest houses and shelters just above the plateau. And polenta is missing in none of these!
- It is one of the most Instagram-perfect-pictures- places in Trentino. Your social network will benefit.
- All trails are well marked with signs at each intersection and you are provided with a map at the cable car.
- Dogs can board in the cable car and do not pay the ticket but they must have the muzzle.
You’ve never done mountain hikes?
Do not worry! Losing yourself on the Alpe di Siusi is just impossible, at the worst you will be chased by some cow. TIP: If you have dogs attention to the cows! They could confuse your hairy friend for a wolf and attach you. Dogs run faster than a cow so you have to be careful and give it to your legs.
ALPE DI SIUSI 3 BEST TREKS:
- Bulacia trail
- Alpe di Siusi panoramic ring
- trekking to Malga Sattler Schwaige ( the one we did – follow “hotel Panorama”, the Laurin Hutte sign and the number 13 until the hunt and enjoy your meal! )
CONCLUSION
It was a great day, the walks were not difficult and of course the happiest was Giorgino that with those boundless lawns he could run where he wanted and without dangers.
Lunch was a winter dip in the middle of summer. Polenta and finferli, cheese, gulasch and a radler mug. THE HAPPINESS : D
I think it’s important in a mountain holiday to alternate challenging treks to easier and fun walks as in this case. In the end it is still a vacation and spending a day between chattering and laughter, detour in huts and eating stratospheric is, I admit, wonderful.
