^^^ A fence with donkeys welcomes us in front of the restaurant “Borgo Poscolle” in Cavazzo Carnico ^^^
^^^ At the Borgo poscolle the atmosphere is intimate and relaxed and you immediately feel at home 😀 ^^^
^^^Start the lunch with a foam of Topinambur with soft egg and truffle cream .. delicious! ^^^
^^^ Rabbit tuna with sweet and sour vegetables and purple potatoes for Simone. ^^^
^^^ The first courses begin: Cjarcions with figs and shallots on cream of Pastorate (typical Carnic cheese) ^^^
^^^Potato gnocchi and topinambur on cream of Frant cheese, walnuts and ramandolo ^^^
^^^ Simone happy with his veal shank ^^^
^^^ And my very good tempura of Salmerino fish ^^^
^^^ Very good!!! ^^^
^^^ Finally a nice chocolate cake with pistachio ice cream accompanied by two glasses of cherry brandy ^^^
^^^ Returning home, we stopped to see the Avasinis waterfall which forms only after heavy rains ^^^
^^^ We took a crazy wash but it was a lot of fun 😀 ^^^

I don’t know how much you follow us, especially on social networks (@theitaliansmoothie), but one thing that Simone and I love to do is find unique places in the region where to eat well.
In fact one thing that has always united us is the passion for excellent restaurants so, for our fifth anniversary, we decided to try the restaurant “Borgo Poscolle” in Cavazzo Carnico.
The Borgo Poscolle restaurant is once again part of the “Osterie d’Italia” guide.
This recognition is given to traditional places that know how to combine seasonal products, a convivial environment and a menu that enhances the territory.
OUR 5 ‘ANNIVERSARY
It’s Sunday morning and outside our window there is a storm of water and wind.
Simone and I when it rains and we have the day off we get angry because we can’t go to the mountains or at least go for a walk with Giorgino and so in mid-morning we decide to “fall back” by going to the restaurant and celebrate, a few weeks late, our anniversary.
Let’s start by saying that we are not anniversary lovers. We don’t even have a real anniversary date and that’s why we often forget it .
A TABLE FOR TWO, THANKS!
We call and reserve a table for 12.30.
Let’s go first to the center of Gemona del Friuli to catch the rain, have an aperitif and then we head towards Cavazzo Carnico.
Passing through Trasaghis we finally see the Avasinis waterfall which shows up only when a lot of water comes down.
Today it is HUGE and very powerful.
He arrogantly exits the cave and launches down the mountain. We decide to go and see it closely afterwards and still shocked by a waterfall that I didn’t even know existed we continue the road.
We arrive fairly punctual and there are already a lot of cars.
Outside the restaurant two donkeys welcome us and a subtle mist is depositing all around, creating a sad and romantic atmosphere at the same time.
We head towards the restaurant which is located in a characteristic renovated barn and we are immediately greeted by Mr. Lucio, the owner, who impeccably accompanies us to our table.
We have a really nice table, next to the window from which we can look at the storm, and near the beautiful tiled stove from which a really hot comes.
The white English-style windows, the high ceilings, the mezzanine with the bookcase, the tureens of the past create an intimate and light atmosphere from the first moment you enter the door of the restaurant.
We order a good bottle of Riesling and start studying the menu.
I WOULD HAVE ORDERED EVERYTHING!
BORGO POSCOLLE .. BUT WHAT A DELIGHT!
Let’s take a delicious Topinambur mousse (but who knew it was so good !?) with a soft egg and truffle cream and Simone tastes the rabbit with sweet and sour vegetables and purple potatoes. All enchanting.
Choosing the other dish was very hard. Among homemade gnocchi, cjarcions, bigoli and blecs, it was not known what to take.
After a long moment of concentration I ordered Cjarcions with figs and shallots on Pastorut cream (Carnico cheese) which were VERY GOOD while Simone preferred the potato and Topinambur dumplings on cream of Frant cheeses, walnuts and ramandolo. Wow!
Could we miss the main course?
Of course not!
I tasted the very special Tempura di Salmerino fish, and Simone opted for the baked veal shank with mashed and celeriac which he called very delicate.
Each dish was pure enjoyment.
Borgo Poscolle offers seasonal menus with recipes with simple and quality ingredients. We see that the chefs work with skill and above all with passion in this kitchen, enhancing ingredients and aromas in every single dish.
In addition to being delicious to eat, each course was also beautiful to look.
Although we were practically bursting, we also ordered the chocolate and ice cream pie accompanied by two glasses of Sangue Morlacco, cherry brandy recommended by the talented Mr. Lucio. He was quite right that with chocolate he goes very well.
Overall we give a well deserved 10 mark to everything!
From service to food.
And we highly recommend it for couples, family or business dinners.

Ahahaha was a lot of fun (whoever follows my videos on instagram knows: D haha @theitaliansmoothie).
To see it up close we took a SUPER wash because the waterfall was actually huge and very powerful. The air carried water everywhere and it was really impossible to avoid it.
