EASY HIKE OF THE FONTANONE BARMAN IN VAL RESIA

This post is also available in: Italiano

Easy hike to discover the Fontanone Barman, a fascinating carsic spring that comes from a cave from the northern slope of Mount Musi.

^^^ During this walk we will follow the Cai 703 path ^^^

^^^ In  15 minutes we reached the lower Barman fountain where Giorgino immediately takes a bath  ^^^

^^^ We’ll go upstairs right after that. On the last stone, top right, above the waterfall  ^^^

^^^ Above us Mount Musi ^^^

^^^A beautiful natural window on Mount Cimone and on Montasio  ^^^

^^^ After taking altitude we are forced to descend to reach the upper part of the Fontanone Barman  ^^^

^^^ The path that leads to the upper part of the Fontanone, especially in the final part, is not that great. I do not recommend it to those with small children  ^^^

^^^ Eccoci finalmente  alla sorgente del fontanone Barman.. che emozione! ^^^

^^^ Just below that big stone, the water of the barman gushes out  ^^^

^^^ It was really incredible to reach the point where the Barman fountain was born  ^^^

^^^ The view of the Val Resia from the upper point of the Barman fountain ^^^

^^^ Simone trying to photograph the jump of the waterfall (without success) ^^^

We were looking for a walk not too demanding and that developed inside the wood because is noon.

The Fontanone Barman seemed like a good solution.

INTRO

We park right in front of the beginning of the path after passing Resiutta, Resia and Lischiazze.

There are only 2 other cars, perhaps because it is one of the first real hot Sundays and probably many have gone to the beach.

We do not.

We go to the beach only in the evening, to drink and eat.

THE WALK TOWARDS THE LOWER PART OF THE BARMAN FONTANONE

I admit.

It was hard to walk.

I had slept little and even if the desire to go for a walk was great, my body had no intention of struggling.

We decide to go first to see the lower part and the upper part of the fountain and then decide whether to finish the ring.

The beginning of the path is really pleasant.

A comfortable pebble path in a beech forest leads us into the narrow and deep valley of the Barman river to the point where we can see the waterfall jumping from below.

A show.

The blue and turquoise waters make you want to jump into the water, too bad that it’s not deep enough here to take a dip.

Jumps, waterfalls and water games are a pleasure to see and so slowly I start to recover.

We jump from one stone to another so as not to get wet and reach the other shore where the view of the falls is better.

Giorgi meanwhile continues to jump into the water making more sketches than the fountain itself.

We reach the opposite bank from which we can finally see the 3 main jumps of the waterfall.

After a few photos we leave almost immediately to see the waterfall from above.

WALKING UP TO THE HIGH PART OF THE FONTANONE BARMAN  IN VAL RESIA

The path develops all inside the forest, therefore, even if it is hot, we are really well.

We follow the CAI 703 up to the deviation that indicates “the upper part of the Fontanone Barman”. There are fallen trees and we lose a second the way.

We had to go around the trees to find the CAI marker again and start the descent to the source of the Fontanone.

The path takes us down the mountainside quickly and in 10 minutes we find ourselves again among waterfalls and crystal clear waters.

While Simo holds the dog I climb by jumping from one stone to another up to the spring.

Under the enormous stone that seems to have been placed there on purpose, the water of the Barman stream gushes out.

These waters derive from the subsoil of the Musi chain and form a total jump of 70 meters.

Breathtaking!

THE JUMP OF THE WATERFALL SEEN FROM THE HIGH

With extreme caution I sit on a rock that is right above the cliff and slowly slide down to the edge.

Below me the power of the waterfall, the noise is very strong, almost a roar that rises. The water that falls into the void and I try to lean as far as possible to see all this beauty.

It’s a must see.

After trying to take some decent pictures (impossible mission) I go back to Simone to keep the dog while he too goes to see the jump.

It is not surprising that it is so well known that this Fontanone Barman is really beautiful to see. More than anything else because you are all used to seeing the falls from below, how many times do you see them from above and even manage to reach the source ?!

Really great!

After spending a good half hour here, we go back along the same path. Once again the climb (damn the last mojito of the night before ..) and past the fallen trees we return to the crossroads.

WE CONTINUE THE  WALK ALONG THE CAI 703

To the south the peaks of Mount Musi rise above us majestically while to the north in the distance the profile of Mount Cimone with its 2379 meters, the Jof of Montasio 2753 and the Peak of Mezzodì 1868 m accompany us in the walk.

We pass various formations of sedimentary rocks, very interesting to observe for their succession of layers that are usually in horizontal while in this case they are vertical.

We proceed fast because there are no more ascents and therefore the remaining path develops flat or downhill.

We reach the ruins of Casera Planinizza and then we begin the descent at times uncomfortable due to the thick covered with dry leaves that covers everything.

Walking and occasionally stumbling we reach the comfortable little road of stones that we have walked at the beginning of the walk.

END

A nice hike this afternoon too, very easy and refreshing, suitable for everyone (except the upper part of the fountain because exposed) perfect for family walks and trekking with your dogs.
