^^^ I am ready, my backpack and my camera are safe, ready to take the flood ^^^
A few Sundays ago the weather forecast had set bad weather from 2.00pm so we decided to take an easy walk, eat something in the shelter and go home.
Unfortunately, the storm arrived earlier.
THE HIKE TO THE GRAUZARIA HUT
We arrive by car up to Moggio Udinese, we do not find the usual open bar so we pull straight towards the Val Aupa and follow the signs for the Grauzaria hut.
We arrive at the parking area where there is also a table with benches to rest after the descent.
We take the path 437 that in an hour and a half reaches the hut.
This is a really easy path.
It winds mostly in the woods and is never dangerous.
Today because it announced bad weather we don’t meet anyone but usually here, you can find many families with children.
We go up the path that immediately attacks inside the wood and from the initial 700 meters we reach the 986 m of Casera Flop now destroyed and covered with vegetation.
We look at the two photos on the bulletin board in front of the remains of the dairy.
It’s nice to fly with the imagination and think about how the people lived up until the 1960s here in this valley, especially in the summer season where entire families moved to the pastures to help in the dairy and to make forage.
WE ARE MIDWAY
Once past Casera Flop we cross the last stretch of wood and come out in front of a spectacular panorama.
To our left, the Grauzaria Crete and the Sfinge stand out high, while on the right, the beautiful view of the valley and the Crete dal Monz, which appears like a mushroom right in the center.
We pass the only scree (easy and short) and we must necessarily stop 10 minutes where a waterfall creates a pleasant pool where Giorgino immerses himself very happy.
After our dog has drunk all the water possible we make the last 2 hairpin bends to get to the Grauzariahut we have already seen through the trees.
ARRIVED AT THE RIFUGIO GRAUZARIA
But what a charm, guys!
The Grauzaria alpine hut rises to 1250 meters and is a beauty!
The windows are all painted red and dozens of geraniums hung everywhere make the refuge even more characteristic.
Inside it’s all cured, I wish I could stay here tonight bother!
The weather is holding so we sit outside and order frico and polenta.
Rucola, the dog of the owners, also arrives and starts playing with Giorgi. They run like mad everywhere, luckily there’s nobody around.
NEW DESTINATION “FORAM DE LA GJALINE”
Continuing along the CAI 437 path in half an hour we reach the “Foram de la Gjaline” crossroads of many paths.
The toponym of this place is derived from “foran” the depression suitable for the hatching of the eggs for the females of the black grouse and in fact here we find ourselves in a hollow from which we can look at the panorama over Pontebba and above we can have a perfect view of the mountain Sernio.
The clouds are running like crazy now and in a second the sky has turned black and half of Sernio is hidden.
Simone and I look at each other, wear K-ways and start down at the speed of light.
THE RUN TO THE CAR
I only say to you that it has flooded so much that the path could no longer be seen, it was a river of water in flood.
We ran throwing our feet at random in the water having no idea what was underneath.
Probably a good star loved us because none of us 2 sprained anything.
After taking the hail twice, we managed to get to the car, we jumped in and changed.
Finally dry and dry … it stopped raining and the sun came out!
In hindsight we would have stopped for an hour at the hut.
This time the adventure was less fun, surely next time we’ll be more attentive to the weather schedule or we’ll stay indoors if possible.
