Sunbathing, hiking, lunch in the shelters, kayaking, boat rides, bike paths that line the lake, many baths in the lake and more. Here’s what to do during a holiday on Lake Millstatt am See in Austria. WHERE Simon had heard about Lake Millstatt […]
Month: June 2018
It’s Monday morning, the rain has given us respite, I put my earphones and I leave for a walk by the river. I must confess a thing. I’ve never been a great runner. I’m not even sure that mediocre is the exact term, […]
A beautiful walk with breathtaking views starting from Cason di Lanza Casera (Pontebba / Friuli Venezia Giulia) along the cheese trail and the Aip clay up to the Bivacco Lomasti.
A fairly simple trek that will allow you to reach the border and take a look at the ski resort of Nassfeld in summer and go around the huts.
It’s Sunday morning, the day is enchanting. We arrive at Cason di Lanza where we leave the car and take a coffee sitting in one of the benches outside. Simone also eats a slice of cake, obviously homemade and in the meantime we take a look at the cows running around the fence and the various companies that are about to leave.
Let’s take a quick look at the map. There are many paths that can be taken from here. Both easy and suitable for families – like the cheese trail that reaches in an oretta the Attila Cave through simple paths full of scenic spots and explanatory tables -.
Or more difficult trails such as the Carica crossing, the Crete Rosse ferrata or the “Joseph Uiberlacher” Austrian Ferrata.
The “sentiero del Formaggio” or “cheese way” is amazing, ;D ( SEE THE VIDEO OF THIS TREK HERE ). It is a beaten and simple path immersed in verdant meadows with a minimal difference in height but with numerous panoramic points to easily discover the peaks that surround us and be able to immerse even more in nature.
^^^ Me and Georgie in large green meadows above Cason di Lanza, a real spectacle can be reached also by children ^^^
^^^ In the way for the Creta di Aip. Me and Giorgino always together 😀 ^^^
As soon as Giorgino has left, he makes great runs to the right and left, throwing himself into the pools of water that the cows usually use to drink during the walk to the other huts or meadows where they graze. I remember hoping that the walk was all the same and, for once, my prayers were heard, this ride is really easy (if you are a walker, of course).
After the cave of Attila, a small cave of stone with a small stream that flows in the middle and in front of a large clearing full of grass and flowers, continue until you reach the CAI 403 and make a piece of “Crossing Carnica” and I do not say that panorama show.
OBVIOUSLY IF YOU ARE WITH CHILDREN FOLLOW THE RING OF THE MALGES OR RETURNED BACK AFTER THE CAVE OF ATTILA.
Climb, climb and climb again but never with great difficulty until you reach the border and take a walk in the crest of the Aip. On the right our beautiful Italy with its huts in the distance. On the left the summer version of the Nassfeld ski area and its stationary systems. A crazy panorama.
We do not stop and continue until the Lomasti bivouac. From the clay we saw this little red dot getting lost in this grassy clearing and a path that wound around him. We wear our windproof Meru jackets and finally eat. The view from the bivouac is incredible, the valley below shines and on our left we look at the many people who arrive from the railroad that they have just concluded.
We end the tour by following the path of friendship (beautiful but quite long and marshy when we went) and further down the ring of mountain huts that leads back to Cason di Lanza where we reward with a plate of homemade dumplings and a radler beer from the middle .. CIN CIN!
