Living a ranch like a real cowboy at the Silver Spur Ranch.
Silver Spur Ranch • Bandera, Texas
During my last USA road trip, me and my friends decided to spend 4 days in a real Texas ranch in one of the last cowboy city of the United States.
Bandera is the last city where is still possible to go around with horses – yes, to the saloon included! – and where you can live a very cowboy experience.. with more comfort obviously!
The arrive at the ranch is already a breathtaking experience. When the big gate at the entrance open, you can see the road to the property surrounded by thousand of longhorn cows that follow you and your rent-car with interested look. Lol!
The day at the silver spur ranch start always with coffee, eggs, beans and a LOT of salted batter. After this energetic breakfast the best thing to do is the horse riding through the land of the ranch with a real (and very cute) cowboy: Justin!
Morning going always so fast when you have fun and in a shot is lunch time and ready to chill in the pool that is SOOO BIG?! Do you know the phrases that everything is bigger in Texas?! Exactly! Pools as well!
The little center of Bandera is full of well-stoked shops where you can find any type of hat, souvenir, or indians and cowboys stuff. Perfect for loose one afternoon and do some shopping and take the chance to char with some local, they are so cute and happy to meet the tourist in town!
Another very cool experience we did in the Silver Spur ranch is the tour at the longhorn cows area. We sit on a truck on a bale of hay and after a little ride conducted by a gaucho of the ranch, we had the possibility to see this GIANT cows around us and give them some food and make some photo. Was so incredible guys! I never seen cows big like this in my life!
In the evening we where use to play billiards and have a couple of beers and wait for the barbecue where you can make the most famous american dessert: the Smores. The name means “something-more” because when you start you can’t stop to eat this biscuit-choco choco- marshmallow goodness! Mmmm….
Our bungalow was clean and cowboys inspo decorated with a wood wheel double bad and a donkey (not always included) that every morning try to entry in your bedroom hihihi!
Live in a real texas ranch was one of the dream of my life and thanks to the Silver Spur I lived for 4 days in a real fairy tale! I should never forget the happiness I feel there and how many time I realize how lucky I am.
